Kambaku River Sands Lodge is beautifully placed within the heart of the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, bordering the Kruger National Park. The lodge combines simple luxury with a high level of environmental consciousness. The lodge is easily accessible by road, being about a 6 and half hour drive from Johannesburg, about 3 and a half hours from Nelspruit and about 2 hours from Hoedspruit. Private Charter flights can be arranged into Eastgate Airport from either Johannesburg or Cape Town.

Positioned on the banks of a dry river bed, Kambaku River Sands offers guests the perfect setting and environment in which to relax and enjoy the natural wonders of the African bushveld. The camp is unfenced and benefits from a continuous flow of both big and small game through and around the camp, where sightings of elephant, buffalo and bushbuck are common.

Timbavati Private Nature Reserve makes up part of the Kruger National Park’s western border and as there are no fences between the two reserves, the wildlife has uninhibited movement within this area. Home to Africa’s Big 5 – Lion, Elephant, Buffalo, Rhino and Leopard, Timbavati is also renowned for its famous White Lions. Kambaku River Sands is ideally located within the territory of this pride of White Lions.

Daily game drives and bush walks led by knowledgeable rangers offer excellent opportunities for some close up encounters and personal interaction with not just the reserves bigger game but also some of the parks smaller natural creations and excellent birdlife.

Each of the suites at Kambaku is elegantly decorated with private viewing decks and spectacular views of either the dry river bed or the surrounding bush. All sliding doors are protected with mosquito netting and large satin nets are draped over the beds. Each suite also has its own en-suite bathroom with spa bath, indoor and outdoor showers.

The main lodge has a spacious lounge with two open fireplaces, perfect for chilly winter evenings, while the bar looks out over the swimming pool, where elephants regularly come to drink. Delicious evening meals are enjoyed in either the boma, under the stars in a bush setting or in the lodges’ elegant, yet relaxed dining room where good food is enhanced by good company.

Ideally situated within the Greater Kruger National Park, Kambaku River Sands offers guests a personal, guided wildlife experience, in a magical environment.
